The Lord's Prayer - Martin Luther (1483-1546)

This edition has been translated from the original German language that it was written in, and reprinted to mark the 500th Anniversary of Luther's momentous break from Rome. It was on 31st October, 1517 Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg Castle Church. This event marked a watershed, if not the start, of the Reformation in Europe.

As the Huntingtonians loved Luther's Writings, so they also had an even higher regard for the Lord's Prayer. Bernard Gilpin writes thus;

…I had a sweet feeling of the blessedness of sitting down in a quiet and humble residence, and there praying the Lord's Prayer, all our lifetime. What a substance! Adoption, adoration, submission, daily bread, mutual love, love even to our enemies, forgiveness of sins, deliverance from temptation, and from all evil! If a man is following after these things by faith, he has great gain both here and hereafter.
