Our Services
We welcome local, interstate and international visitors to our chapel who desire to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with us, in simplicity and reverence, in our plain, yet classic building.
Jesus said:
“Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest for your souls”.
Matthew 11 v 29.
The usual order of our services is as follows:
-
Hymn 1
-
Reading from the Word of God
-
Prayer
-
(Notices)
-
Hymn 2
-
Sermon
-
Hymn 3
-
Benediction
There is quietness and seriousness with which the congregation gathers for worship (no noise or talking before the service). There is reverence throughout; before, during, and after the service while the congregation is within the House of God.
We also believe, that as we are coming together to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the presence of God, we ought to dress modestly and appropriately according to the commandments and precepts laid out in Deuteronomy 22:5 and 1 Corinthians 11: 2-15.
The only version of the Bible used is the 1611 Authorised King James Version (AKJV) with hymns sung from the William Gadsby's Hymnbook. These books are scattered throughout the chapel seats and at the entrances, for worshippers to use during services. A free personal Bible can be obtained from our Free Bible page and both the Hymnbook and Tune book can be obtained from our Bookstore.
Hymns are generally sung to tunes from the Companion Tune Book, with occasional tunes from the Manuscript, a local compilation of individually composed hymn tunes and those sourced from other material.
The whole service usually lasts about an hour and a quarter.
